Technical Director

Matt has an impressive 20 years in the industry, plus 2 years’ accounting experience (AAT Qualified).

His responsibilities include ensuring our customers get the right technology, which helps them achieve their goals and gain the right support. Matt is also committed to building the profile of CTRL-S, along with building new client relationships.

What are your hobbies and interests?

I am interested in football, specifically Manchester United and the season starting filled me with excitement until I saw how bad we were against Wolves, my optimistic side says we can only get better. I also love the F1, I’ve been to watch it at Silverstone and am planning to visit tracks across the world, especially the new Las Vegas GP. Hobbies include DIY, initially I wasn’t great but I am a believer that if you put your mind to it (and watch loads of YouTube videos), anyone can do anything and I recently finished fitting my downstairs bathroom (including tiling). I also love spending time with my wife and boys on days out and holidays.

What aspect of working at CTRL-S do you enjoy the most?

Working at CTRL-S is a pleasure, I love what I do, and I am surrounded by dedicated and talented people who share similar values of personal growth and success. We have almost the perfect balance of personalities in the team, everyone is professional in their approach but also know how to have a laugh, which makes coming to work great fun. Personally, I get satisfaction from building strong and trusted relationships with my clients, there is nothing better than knowing there is someone you know, and trust to call if there are issues, and that’s exactly what I try to provide to our clients.

How do you stay up to date with the latest technology trends and updates?

Again I love what I do so keeping up to date with tech trends and updates is relatively simple, I dedicate time each week to read white-papers, time to work on my technical professional development (as well as my personal development) and time to do my own research. We also attend trade shows such as DTX, SITS and Accountex throughout the year, which while exhausting are also extremely insightful!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of working in IT support?

Being able to make a positive measurable difference of the quality of peoples time at work. There is nothing more frustrating than having poor systems that hinder your day and not being able to get the support you need when things go wrong; we recognise the impact that can have on the people and therefore understand how good processes and systems can have the opposite effect. We help our clients to improve processes, identify the right systems and give them a helping hand when they need it, I believe this makes more of a difference than most might recognise, resulting in a more positive experience at work and impacting overall happiness and health. Knowing that we make that difference on a daily basis, that’s rewarding!
